Scimitar are thrilled to announce that Worcestershire County Cricket Club fast bowler Dillon Pennington has joined as Brand Ambassador.
The 21-year-old, who played for England in the 2018 U19 Cricket World Cup, is very highly-rated, with ambitions to play senior international cricket.
Shropshire-born Dillon signed his first professional contract with Worcestershire ahead of the 2018 season and soon earned plaudits from some of the best in the game, with South Africa star Morne Morkel admitting he was “blown away” by the youngster’s potential as he faced up against him in the County Championship for Surrey.
In 2019, Dillon made a big impact at Worcestershire after having joined through a University of Worcester Scholarship, featuring in the County Championship, One Day Cup and T20 Blast – a season in which the county made it to T20 Finals Day before being pipped on the final ball by Essex, as they looked to become the first side in history to secure back-to-back titles.
Dillon is the latest professional sports player to sign as Scimitar Brand Ambassador following the news that Rugby Union star Ross Neal had joined the team.
Dillon said: “I am thrilled to be in partnership with Scimitar. It is a really exciting, growing brand, doing great things to help the environment while still providing amazing sports clothing.
“After learning about the company’s commitment to sustainability, and testing out their elite range, I was really impressed with how something that’s made from recycled plastic bottles could produce something that’s so comfortable for performance.”
Scimitar Social Media, Content & Campaigns Manager Tom Vale said: “We want to show people that our products are high-quality while we’re also playing our part in reducing waste and recycling. Dillon is very much a young, aspiring athlete looking to make an impact, while we are very much an aspirational brand and want to make our mark by driving people to use recycled, sustainable sportswear – so it’s a perfect fit.
“We’re excited to work with Dillon and we’re looking forward to seeing him in action in the new cricket season.”
